About the Coffee Origin
Gaitania, a village in Tolima’s Planadas municipality, lies in fertile volcanic soil surrounded by mountains, offering ideal conditions for specialty coffee. Known for its history as a refuge for Liberal Party prisoners, Planadas is now celebrated for the warmth and kindness of its people. Coffee here grows at 1,700–1,900m, in 16–22°C temperatures with 1,700–2,000mm annual rainfall. Farmers cultivate mixed varieties in volcanic ash soil, producing complex profiles of stone fruits, caramel, citrus, chocolate, and floral notes. Partnering with the Nasa Wesx Indigenous community, producers focus on quality, sustainability, and organic practices, using meticulous washed processing on raised beds.
