Description
This organic coffee comes from a cooperative called Unión de Cooperativas Agropecuarias San Juan del Rio Coco.
The cooperative spans five different communities in the north of Nicaragua.
One of the goals of the group is to produce coffees that are profitable without harming the natural environment.
As a result, this particular coffee is organically certified. And though the cooperative does span a region that is from 900-1300m in altitude, this particular coffee is “strictly high grown”. This means that all the coffee in this lot comes from above 1,200m – ensuring the best quality cup of coffee.
About this coffee
Central American coffees are famous for their chocolatey nature and this coffee is no different.
It profiles with very low acidity and is an extremely smooth drinking coffee.
Though some may argue that this coffee lacks “complexity”, what it does lack in that regard is more than made up for in its smoothness.
Milk or milk alternatives pair very nicely with this coffee and it goes down extremely easy as black coffee or espresso as well.
For tasting notes, look for milk chocolate, hazelnut, and sweet caramel.
It’s extremely well-rounded and full of body with a pleasant – but not overwhelming – aftertaste.
