The first thing you will notice about this organic coffee from the North Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo is its delicate floral scent.
After the initial hint of white flower, expect spicy notes alongside lime and honey.
This Congolese coffee has a cupping score of 85.75, and is organic-certified and UTZ-certified, supporting sustainable farming in the region.
About this coffee
Since 2018, the supply chain receives Organic and UTZ-certified washed
and honey-processed coffees from smallholder farmers in North Kivu.
Its presence around lake Edward has allowed for market access and technical courses for many farmers.
With 7019 farmers signed up for its programs, the supply chain has now 4
qualified agronomy supervisors who connect with farmer groups through a network of agronomists and community leaders.
Specialty coffee cultivation is having a positive impact on the North Kivu region, which currently has 7 washing stations at 1525-1800 masl, 26 agronomists, 5 washing microstations (internal control system) and 5019 certified farmers (Organic and UTZ).
