Description

This coffee is currently on pre-order and will be available to ship in mid-August 2023.

A very sweet coffee that lingers on the tongue, this Colombian coffee is from a micro-lot in the Quindio region.

Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee grower from Quindio, Colombia.

Back in 2019, he retired after a successful 40-year career working as a mill manager for Colombia’s 2nd largest exporter.

After retirement, he took on the advice and help of his two sons who urged him to get into specialty coffee.

He now grows varieties like Pink Bourbon, Java, Papayo ,and Gesha. Moreover, he also intermixes his coffee crops with mandarin, orange, plantain, and bananas.

This micro-lot is 100% Caturra. This variety originated in Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is a natural mutation of Red Bourbon. Caturra produces more coffee and is more resistant to plant diseases than Bourbon.

About this coffee

This micro-lot from Jairo Arcila was picked, sorted and then exposed to aerobic fermentation for 24 hours.

After this, the coffee was placed inside grain pro bags for 50 hours along with CO2.

Importantly, the coffee is left in temperatures below 22c for this entire process.

Finally, the coffee is pulped, gently washed, and then placed on raised beds to dry.

The result is one of our favourite coffees we’ve had the pleasure of roasting.

Look for tasting notes like panela and passionfruit. It’s a very sweet coffee.
