Description
Located on the slopes of the outer Giries, Thogarihunkal Estate’s coffee history dates all the way back to 1857.
In the middle of the 19th century, TB Malle Gawda realized that the location and situation were perfect for coffee growing. He established a coffee estate and later passed it along to his future generations.
Thus, this coffee comes from over 150 years of knowledge, skill, and passion. This cup isn’t just a delivery of caffeine. It’s a delivery of a love for coffee that spans over a decade.
This coffee comes from the birthplace of Indian coffees.
About this coffee
One of the things that makes this coffee special is that it’s grown in a region of tremendous bio-diversity.
Farmers here use a mixed cropping system to maintain that bio-diversity and keep the quality of the soil high.
This crop of coffee is grown among plants and trees such as pepper vines, cloves, dadaps, and figs.
This particular coffee is an anaerobic natural which means that the cherry is collected, and then sealed in bags to allow the fruit to ferment slightly and increase the flavour profiles of the coffee.
It’s then dried naturally in the cherry to, again, boost those fruity flavours.
The result is something special.
This coffee is full of Cherry, Blueberry, Nougat, Pineapple, and even hints of rum! It has an SCAA score of 87.75
